Dress for the part: What to wear to your session

neutrals, neutrals, NEUTRALS.

You may not want to hear this, but please, for the love of God and all that’s holy…

DO. NOT. WEAR. MATCHING. OUTFITS.

Unless you want to do a reenactment from the movie ‘Masterminds’ then fuck yeah, I’m here for it. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, look it up. It’s amazing. lol)

But for reals. If not neutrals, at least wear something you know you’ll feel comfortable and confident in, or something that you can get a lot of movement in, like a super-flowy dress! Say, if you’re going for a romantic type of style for your session, that would be a perfect fit! Or if you’re more relaxed and are having your pictures taken on a rooftop of a city, that sounds more like a grunge type of setting where you could get away with ripped jeans and a cute crop top.

For the girls: as far as makeup/hair goes, don’t try and act crazy with a new lipstick you haven’t tried yet, or a hair style you want to do yourself that you saw on instagram; just be yourself! I promise, you’ll be less stressed. If you come to the session stressed because that new lipstick isn’t the best shade for your gorgeous face, it’s going to show in your portraits. And you didn’t pay good money to look upset, right?!

For the men: please try to refrain from any logos or certain patterns. If you do decide to go with a pattern, try and use it with a scarf, tie, or trendy hat.

Truly, it all depends on what type of look you’re going for with your session. With that being said, dress for the part :) And I especially want you and your partner to have fun and be comfortable in your time with me. If you have absolutely NO idea what to wear and you’re completely stumped, there’s Pinterest! If you don’t want to go that route, ask your photographer (me!)! If you need to send me pictures of ideas, we can narrow them down together!

I hope this helps :)

xoxo, Dana
