What to bring for your big day
My top tips for successful detail shots.
I know, I know.. I’m going to tell you here to bring more shit to your venue/hotel room/getting ready site. BUT! It’s for a good cause, I promise :)
Obviously, you’re going to have your ring and bouquet with you, so that’s two things off the list of things to bring - YAY! But here are some ideas of other items to bring with you:
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue
perfume
heirloom jewelry/veil/pictures of passed loved ones
wedding shoes
wedding jewelry
garter
ring box/pillow
hair pieces/accessories
Save-the-date/invitations
all of your ‘somethings’ (old, new, borrowed, blue)
I know it seems like a lot, and if you think you’re going to forget any of those items, make sure you assign someone to help you put it all together, make a reminder list in your phone, or pack those items in a specific box ahead of time to bring with you on the day of (or if your venue can allow it, bring your box of goodies the night before)! (Take it from a 2023 bride; I’ve packed a lot already and I’m not getting married until October. Let me just tell you, I can already feel the relief with how much I’ve gotten done so far that I don’t have to worry about until the wedding day.)
Trust me when I say, besides the bride and groom, I LOOOOOOOOOOVE detail shots. It’s probably one of my favorite parts of a wedding day, because I get to be creative with your items, and all of them tell some kind of story, ya know? Which can be super cool to incorporate and shed light on.
But if you’re like, ‘Dana, I’m not going to remember to bring all that stuff’, that’s totally fine. One way you can get an item or two off your list is mailing your photographer (me!) your invitation or save-the-date, or both! We love that shit, and seeing it in person, just amps up the anticipation before the wedding day!
I hope this helps! Happy planning! :)
xoxo, Dana
