When you should book your wedding photographer
You don’t want to wait until the last minute..
At minimum: one year.
When my fiancé and I chose our photographer for our wedding, we chose our photographer based off how she made us feel first, her portfolio second, and then pricing came last. (It may not happen for you in that order, and that’s ok!) With our photographer, she made us feel like we were friends already, and not just like ‘the next client’. She’s cool AF, and she was willing to work with my fiancé and I, which was really helpful, in the grand scheme of things.
Point blank: we get booked QUICKLY, so you want to jump fast! (and it could save you some dough!) Especially if you already have an idea in mind as to what kind of aesthetic you’re going for with your wedding; it’s best to chat with the ones who fit that vibe for you as soon as you have your venue and wedding date. Having said that, if you start your search too late, you could miss out on someone who’s not as experienced, or someone that won’t produce the type of imagery/vibe you’re looking to have. Now I’m not saying, book someone just to book someone; really do your research, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Those consult calls with photographers are crucial and can tell you a lot about who you’re going to work with, how they’re going to make you feel come wedding day, and how they’re going to tell your love story through their eyes.
xoxo, Dana
P.S. July 1st, 2022 was the day that my fiancé Josh proposed to me! Today, is a full year of being engaged and what better way to celebrate than to talk about booking your wedding photographer?! I wrote a bonus blog about the proposal, too! So go take a read! Only 3 more months and I’ll be a married woman! EEEEE!!!
